Install yapmod

Download and install the build for your platform.

Download the latest build from the Releases page.

yapmod has two release channels:

• Stable is the normal channel. Releases are tested and receive fixes and security updates.
• Nightly follows ongoing development. Nightly builds may be unstable, can change or lose data, and are replaced each day.

Install the latest nightly prerelease if you want to try changes before they ship.

An installation stays on the channel it was installed from. Stable and nightly builds check separate update feeds, so a nightly build never replaces a stable installation automatically and a stable build never moves to nightly. To change channels, install a build from the other channel; your settings are kept.

Windows

Run either installer and follow its prompts. The portable .zip runs from a folder without installation.

macOS

Open the .dmg and drag yapmod into Applications.

First launch on macOS Builds are ad-hoc signed but not notarized. On the first launch, right-click the app and choose Open, or allow it in System Settings > Privacy & Security.

Linux

Pick the package for your distribution. Adjust the file name in these commands when necessary.

AppImage on recent Wayland distributions The AppImage may crash or display a blank window on recent Fedora releases and some other Wayland-based distributions because of a conflict between bundled Wayland libraries and the system graphics stack. Use the .rpm package on Fedora or the .deb package on Debian and Ubuntu. See Troubleshooting for details.

To update, install a newer build over the existing one. Keep the same channel when you do: a stable installation should be updated with a stable build and a nightly installation with a nightly build. Your settings are kept.

yapmod also downloads signed client updates in the background from the channel the app was built for. When one is ready, choose Restart now to apply it, or choose Later to keep using the app with a restart reminder. This updates the client without reinstalling the desktop app.
